My Oh MY, Look who’s 5!

This little boy is the apple of my eye.  He is so smart and quirky always keeping us on our toes.  Just the other day we had a debate about whether or not moles had eyes.  He had some strong logic defending his view, but I knew that moles did not, in fact, have eyes.  I kept thinking, “why doesn’t he believe me? I’m his mom, if I say they don’t have eyes, they don’t.  Come on.”  Well, after about 5 minutes or so we googled it.

I was wrong.  Moles do have eyes.  They are tiny and worthless, but they do have eyes.  Sigh.

I’m sure this won’t be the first time.

You know where he learned it?  On-line.  Yes, Jackson you-tubes almost every creature he reads about.  He LOVES learning.  He craves it and seeks after knowledge.  It’s amazing to me.  He absorbs and retains almost everything he learns.  And he learns a lot. Not just numbers, shapes, colors and letters; he’s got those down.  It’s the names and details about every living creature.  Maybe every little kid does this? I’m not certain, but he’s my first, so of course, I’m totally impressed.

His favorite show right now is “How it’s Made”, which he insists on watching every night with Brian.  He also loves “Wild Kratts” on PBS and his favorite movie at the moment is “Cat in the Hat”.  Of course, riding his bike is his favorite outdoor activity, which he is improving on.  Still using training wheels, but he’s not really worried about it.  He loves rough housing with friends and using his imagination to play explorer, “good guy/bad guy”, dinosaurs, cars, and coloring.

Jackson is really good with his sisters too.  They argue and fight like most siblings, but he’s very complimentary and loving towards them.  Clearly, I’m a proud mom.  I’m so blessed to have this little man in my life and I could not love him more.
