Brian's brother, Todd, Candy and their two kids, Tyson and Alyssa, decided spur of the moment to drive 17 hours to visit us for a few days. If you don't know Candy, this is a REALLY big deal for her. She is a planner (kind of like myself) so major road trips, with kids, last minute, is not her thing! . . . At all! So we were so excited when she & Todd made the split decision to throw caution to the wind and head up to see us for the weekend. Brian was able to get work off and we had such a great time having them in our home and showing them 'our' fun new town.
We went to the nearby beaches, crabbed, went on nature hikes, shopped, ate Fish & Chips, looked for Agates, talked until 1:00 am and ate TONS of food. Jackson loved playing with his cousins and we loved having family around.
So I know that slide shows are the lazy way of documenting, but I have things to do people - So just bare with me! (If you want the slide show to speed up, just click on the + sign in the lower left-hand corner.)
Okay, so a funny Jackson story. . . in one of the photos above where we are crabbing, there is a pic of Jackson pulling on the yellow rope that is attached to the crab cage in the water. We pulled up the cage every couple of minutes to see what new (or old) crabs we would find inside. So being a typical two year old, well almost two, Jackson tried to mimic and pull up the ropes to the crab cage too. But the funny thing is, at least to me, is that ever since then, he has been obsessed with cords or strings or anything 'rope' like to pull up.
He'll drop his bib off the front of the highchair only holding it up by the end of it's tie and then slowly pull it up using one hand after the other. He'll grab the cord to our cell phone, iPod or vacuum and drape it over the table or his shoulder and pull it through his hands. He gets so intense when he is 'crabbing' that sometimes he even grunts like it's so heavy. He will be entertained by this for 15-30 minutes sometimes. Is he borderline autistic or just a dedicated fisherman like his dad? Hmmm?

SO FUN!!
Love the slide show - ah, maybe there are a few more pics I should've included in mine.
Cute little Jackson with the crabbing ropes, how funny to pretend.
love you guys!
I wish we lived close enough that we could make a spur of the moment visit to you! That would be so fun. I know why you have visitors so often--you're always doing super fun things. I can't wait until we do get to see you all again!
